K-3 Career Day

On Friday, April 13th, Pine River Area Elementary hosted their 2nd annual Career Day  Over 18 community members came and shared their professions with Kindergarten through 3rd Grade Students.  Professions included an occupational therapist, musicians, police officers, pharmacists, builders, and many more.  Students enjoyed learning about a variety of careers they may be interested in pursuing their future.

To make this day even more special, students were able to dress up as what they want to be when they grow up.  Students also were given the opportunity to explore careers through reading children’s book about careers, doing a career related art project, visiting selected websites about different professions, and taking a career interest survey.
Ms. Barbara Sicoli, school success worker planned this day.  She says, “We want our kids to start thinking about careers and their future, even at this age.”  Mrs. Heidi Hayes, elementary principal shared, “It was a fantastic afternoon!  We appreciate the community members that devoted time to come in a share about their profession.  They got our kids really excited about careers and what they want to be when they grow up.”
Sicoli says, “We’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback from our families and speakers and look forward to continuing Career Day in the future.”
