Pine River Area Elementary News
October 20, 2017
Note from Principal:
Thank you to all of the special ladies that came in today for the My Gal and I event. It’s nice to have you in our lives at school to see part of your child’s world. A big thank you to the PRPTG for helping to plan this event. We appreciate all of your hard work!
Morning Drop Off:
For the safety of your children, please make sure to have your child exit from the right hand/passenger side of the vehicle. It is getting darker in the morning, making it hard to see children exiting from the left-hand side. Please take a moment to make the switch in your vehicles this weekend. We want to ensure that children are safe when they are being dropped off in the morning. Thank you for helping us keep your children safe!
Parent Teacher Conferences:
Conferences will be held on Wednesday, October 25th from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. and Thursday, October 26th from 12:00 – 7:15 p.m. Please make note of the change for Thursday’s schedule. Students will attend a half day of school on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week. The K-3 building will dismiss at 10:55 a.m. and the Middle/High School building at 11:15 a.m. Lunch will not be served at school. Thank you to everyone who has turned in their conference request forms. Your confirmation form were sent home with your child today. If you do not receive an appointment confirmation, please contact Mrs. Martin at 231-768-4481.
Halloween is quickly approaching! On Halloween we ask that you send your child to school in regular clothes as they will be going out to recess and may have gym. Also please remember to leave all weapons at home, even if they are part of the costume. Please try to make the costumes school appropriate, as we have students ages 5-9 in our building. Thank you for your help with this. The students will be given time to change into their costumes before the parade. The parade for K-3 will begin at 1:30. We will be parading around the block weather permitting. If the weather does not cooperate, we will parade through the gym for you to watch. The upper elementary (grades 4 and 5) we will be parading through the high school classrooms where they will be providing treats. This parade will start at 1:45.
Book Fair will take place in the gym next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 7:30-3:00. Feel free to come in and shop before the first bell rings, as well as at the end of the day. The Book Fair will be open during conferences on Wednesday so you are able to shop then as well.
Thank you for all the Box Tops that have been sent in so far. Remember when trimming the Box Tops please DO NOT cut off the expiration date or we cannot use it. Thank you for all your support.
Congratulations to the following students who were recognized with a “Be A Buck” postcard this week:
Seth B. Leah H. Talon D. Karyssa K. Hunter L. Levi L. Jerika M. Liam S. Zander S. Moriah T. Kaleb W.
Our K-3 students did a great job on Tuesday! If your child turned in a Pledge Sheet indicating pledges based on the number of laps run, we have sent home confirmation of their total laps. Please remember that money should be turned in by October 30th in order to qualify for a T-Shirt and/or other special prizes. Thank you to everyone who supported Run-A-Thon 2017!
Transportation and Parent Pick-Up Requests:
Parents, any time you have a change in your normal daily routine and need to have your child ride a different bus or you will be picking your child up, the office needs to be notified by a note in the morning (preferred) or a phone call by 12:00 p.m. so bus passes or pick up passes can be made out. We will notify their driver that they will not be riding that day using our daily transportation log. The bus drivers will be looking for your child if they are not on our daily transportation log and listed to be doing something different for that day. Last minute changes cause stress for the students, teachers, drivers and office staff. Please do not tell your child to wait for you or go home with someone else and not ride the bus without informing the office staff. Their teacher will instruct them to follow their normal routine without a bus pass or pickup pass from our office. This is done to assure the safety of our children.
