Note from Principal

It’s hard to believe, but school is almost over, and this will be the final newsletter that comes home this school year. We wish you and your family the best summer ever! Enjoy time with your little ones, as we all know time goes by way too fast. Our school will be sending home reports cards along with summer packets for each child today. There is a letter that explains the things being sent home in the packet, and there is also a video posted on our PRPTG K-3 Facebook page that explains everything. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

We are already looking forward to September 4th, our first day of school for the 2018-19 school year. Please note, classroom placement letters will be sent home in August, however, you can visit pineriver.org and click on the School Supply icon to see the supplies your child will need for school next year if you would like to purchase supplies when sales occur in the summer.

Please also note the following dates: *Our Annual Back to School Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, August 29, 2018. *Community Tailgate Event is scheduled for Thursday, August 30, 2018.

Thanks for all of your support and cooperation this school year! It’s been an absolute privilege to be the principal of Pine River Area Elementary this school year!

Medications

Parents if you had medication for your child at school, please stop by and pick it up. We cannot send medication home with your child. A parent MUST come in to get it.

 

Kindergarten Graduation

Kindergarten Graduation will take place in the Elementary gym on Monday, June 11th. Mrs. Johnson’s class will begin at 9:30, Ms. McConnell’s class at 12:15, and Mrs. Wanstead’s class at 1:30. We hope you are able to join us for this special event.

 

Pine River Flag Football

Forms came home a few weeks ago regarding flag football, which is for any local student coming into grades 1-4. The cost is $20. Please turn the form and money into the elementary office or mail to Coach Martin by June 12th.

 

Pine River Football Camp

Youth football camp flyers were sent home a couple of weeks ago. This camp will take place on July 12th and 13th. There are two options for you to choose from. The cost is either $15 or $20. You must pre-register by June 12th. Please send these in if your child plans on attending. Pine River Girls Basketball Camp A form came home a few weeks ago for the Pine River Girls Basketball Camp, which is for any girl going into 3rd-8th grade. This takes place June 18th-21st from 9:00 a.m. -10:30 a.m. in the high school gym. The registration cost is $20. Please send the form and payment in as soon as possible.

 

Pop Warner Football

Come on down and register your football players and cheerleaders for the 2018 season! Sign up will be held at the LASO Pavilion in LeRoy on June 24th from 2-6 p.m. The player must be 8 years old by July 31st to participate in football. Please bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate and a completed sports physical if you have one. If you do not have a completed sports physical yet, we will need to have it before the first practice in August. Players cannot participate without one on file. There is a player fee in the amount of $70 for football and $50 for cheerleaders. If you have any questions for football, contact Jason Dean, or for cheer, contact Ashley Verdi.

 

Pine River Golf Classic

The 19th Annual Pine River Golf Classic will take place on Sunday, June 10th at Lakewood on the Green. You are able to register between 12:00-12:45 p.m. and tee-off at 1:00 p.m. The cost is $260 per 4 person team ($65 per player). Participants must be 18 years old and out of high school. Bicycle Rodeo

The 6th annual Bicycle Rodeo will take place on Saturday, June 9th at the Lake City United Methodist Church from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. There will be a road safety skills course, prizes, free helmets, free onsite bicycle tire and seat adjustments, free hot dogs and chips, a fire truck, and much more. A parent/guardian must be present in order for your child to participate. Please bring your own bike. For more information, please call 231-839-2123.

 

Kid’s Summer Running Club

This running club will take place every Tuesday from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Franklin Elementary School in Cadillac. This starts on June 20th and goes through August 15th. The cost is $20. If you are interested, please stop in the office to get a registration form.

 

Luther Library

“A Wrinkle in Time” will be the movie shown on Saturday, June 16th at 2:00 p.m. Popcorn and pop will be provided, as well as a door prize. Please come for this fun event! Also, the theme for the Summer Reading Program this year at the library is “Libraries Rock.” This begins on Thursday, July 12th from 2:00-3:30 p.m. Children are able to read and participate weekly to earn “reading bucks” to spend at the “Library Store.” Any child between the ages of 5-17 is able to sign up. You can pre-register starting July 1st. As always, the library has a Story Hour on Monday’s, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

 

Mom Power

This is parenting program for women who are pregnant or have at least one child between the ages of 0-5 designed to provide education to parents, connect them with resources, and support their relationship with their child. This is held on Wednesday’s, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. from July 18th- September 19th at LifeHouse Church 1120 W. Division St. in Cadillac. You do need to commit to all/most sessions. Lost and Found

Please check our lost and found items in the lobby of our school, located just inside our entrance door. All items left after the last day of school will be donated.
