Pine River Area Schools Grief Peer Support Groups
Each of the three schools at Pine River Area Schools now have an opportunity available for students who have experienced the death of a loved one to participate in a peer grief support group. The group will be run by Michael’s Place, an organization that specializes in the grief process. Please contact PR Social Worker Mrs. Amy O. Gullekson (amyo.gullekson@pineriver.org) or the school office if you are interested in having your child(ren) participate. Weekly sessions (4-8 sessions) will be held in school, during school hours, and are free to students. Parent/guardian consent is required. Students who have lost a family member or close friend at some point in their lives are encouraged to attend, even if they are handling it well. A number of students in our schools have experienced loss. Having a safe place to review the grief process (which changes as we develop throughout life) is very important to student success and well being.
