On Tuesday, November 28th, multiple employers, colleges and military representatives spent the day with 400+ Pine River High School 8 – 12 grade students to help them learn about life opportunities after high school. This was a first-time event organized by Student Success Coordinator (SSC) Moriah Miltgen. Due to the lack of counselors available throughout the nation, Pine River Area Schools employs multiple people as Student Success Coordinators throughout the district who serve similar roles assisting students. Ms. Moriah Miltgen is one of the high school SSC’s and her primary role is to help students prepare for life after high school. Students rotated through classrooms all day listening, learning and talking with employers, 17 different college reps, paramedics, police officers and military reps. In addition, students listened to an alumni panel to learn what they’ve done since high school and the challenges they’ve had to overcome along the way. Students also spent time learning how to build a resume, write professional emails, learned interview skills, talked to employers about summer jobs and learned what kind of jobs are offered by employers and much more. Students, parents and employees spoke very positively about the event and it's impact on students. One employee/parent said “I spent all evening talking about college versus work options with my 8th grader!” Tuesday’s event was a smashing success for all involved. Pine River High School plans to offer this event next year and hopefully every other year or annually thereafter. Many thanks to all who participated.
Tonight's boys basketball season opener will start with JV @ 6:00 pm (rather than the usual 5:30 pm) in Harrison. Go Bucks!

Across the nation, The Daughters of the American Revolution recognizes High School seniors for their dedication to being a good citizen. Students are nominated by staff at their high schools and then chosen based off their academics, extracurriculars, an essay written by the student and the qualities of a DAR Good Citizen: Dependability, Service, Leadership and Patriotism. Today Emily Lockhart was honored with the DAR 2023 Good Citizen Award! Congratulations, Emily!
